Whether you’re too broke to afford a blender, old faithful has just exploded or your housemate moved out taking the vitamix with them, there may come a day where you find yourself without a blender. I’m a strong believer in work-arounds, as you may have seen in my cashew curry recipe, where I used cashew butter instead of blended and soaked cashews (another beautiful no blender necessary recipe). Without further ado here’s one of the most quick and simple recipes you will ever come across, and the payoff is enormous.
- 1/4 cup of almond meal (I used this one but any will do)
- 3 Tbsp of Savoury Yeast Flakes (aka nutritional yeast, aka nooch)
- 3/4 Tsp Salt
- 1/4 Tsp Garlic Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Smoked Paprika
- Add all ingredients to a jar, put the lid on then shake til combined and serve atop pastas, make a delicious crust/crumb, stir into sauces, whatever you want!
- Yep that’s it. No clean up necessary.
If you don’t like smokey flavour, just don’t add the paprika, it’s still super delicious and umami without it.
Keeps in the fridge for a couple of weeks but I can guarantee you it won’t last that long.
